An early 1913 Oxford Edition of Poems of Adam Lindsay Gordon. A beautiful scholarly edition with introduction, notes, and appendixes, by Frank Maldon Robb, B.A., LL.B. Published by Humphrey Milford, Oxford University Press, London, in 1913. Presented in an attractive full decorative leather binding with gilt decoration and monogram to the front board.
The binding remains firm and structurally sound. The leather shows very minor age-related wear on the spine, with some rubbing and scuffing along the edges and head of the spine. The gilt lettering and decorative devices remain bright and clean. Light foxing only on reverse of the front endpaper, otherwise a very clean text block. A contemporary gift inscription dated 25.12.18 is present on the front endpaper and a well-preserved portrait frontispiece of Adam Lindsay Gordon. Overall, an amazing collector's or scholarly piece.
Adam Lindsay Gordon remains one of Australia’s most celebrated nineteenth-century poets, particularly associated with bush ballads and sporting verse. A beautiful early Oxford University Press edition.
