The Remains of the Day that won the Booker Prize in 1989 and is widely regarded as Ishiguro’s masterpiece. Told through the voice of an English butler reflecting on duty, loyalty, and emotional restraint, the novel is a quiet but devastating examination of memory, regret, and moral compromise. It remains one of the defining works of late twentieth-century English literature.

As shown in the photos - the book is very good, with clean, unmarked pages and a firm square binding. There is very fine foxing on the top of the edge block. It is housed in the original dust jacket, which is near fine, retaining strong colour and gloss, with only light spine fading. Overall, a sharp and presentable copy of Ishiguro’s most celebrated novel.

This first UK edition, first printing is the true first appearance of the novel and the cornerstone title for collectors of Ishiguro’s work, particularly following his Nobel Prize for Literature in 2017.
